My First Facial!

Now that I have some free time and not having teaching take over my life....I am able to finally catch up on my blog! So a lot of these posts are older and happened over the summer but better late than never right?

One of my students from Pinebrook in VA gave me a certificate to the Red Door Spa for an end of school gift. I was so excited because I love going to the spa but I never want to pay to get things done there because I always wonder if it is really worth the money. The prices kill me! So when I got the gift card I was ecstatic! And the Red Door Spa isn't just any old spa- it is a really expensive, nice spa right in the middle of an expensive outdoor shopping center in Virginia. I was so excited!

After debating to get a pedicure, manicure, etc, I decided I would get a facial because unlike the others, I had never had a facial before and I had always wanted to try it.  It was such a fun experience and I felt very pampered. First, they take you to a special room where you change into a comfy robe and slippers. Then you sit in the relaxing area and drink lemon water on these beautiful couches while reading a magazine. When it was my time to go in, I followed the lady into her room. She had relaxing music playing and the lights were dimmed. She was so friendly and made me feel so comfortable. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax after a stressful year of teaching.

She put on this orange cranberry face mask and I could feel it tingling on my skin. She said it was because of the enzymes in it. There was this steam machine that was pumping out steam onto my skin the whole time to open up my pores. She heated up big arm holders for me to put my arms in and warm up and she covered me up with a comfy blanket. It was divine. The part that was the craziest was when she was sucking out all the dead skin cells off of my face and I could see them going down the little tube. It was kind of disgusting. Then she started picking into my face and nose area to get the blackheads out. That part was pretty painful but I was grateful that she was doing it! The red laser was interesting. She said it was to "kill the bacteria".... hmmm, ok..... It was an hour of complete meditation and relaxation and I loved every minute of it!
After putting a collagen mask on my face during the facial she secretively snuck it into my robe and told me to take it home and use it twice more. She said she wasn't supposed to do that because they sell them in the spa and they want customers to purchase them. But she did it anyway because she liked that I was a teacher I think and because it was my first time. :) So the next couple days I wore that mask for 15 minutes day and night and here is a picture for your enjoyment.....
When I sent it to my mom, she replied, "What is that?" Who is that?" She couldn't believe that it was me and I got a pretty good laugh out of it!

All in all, I loved my facial and wish that I could afford to do it once a month! My skin looked amazing afterwards and it was so smooth and soft. It was such a fun experience that I would highly recommend anyone to do!
