I'm a Kindergarten Teacher!

Life has been crazy around here lately! I am sleep deprived, busy beyond words, and have so many things on my to-do-list that I don't even know where to start sometimes. But life is good.

I am now an official kindergarten teacher at Pinebrook Elementary! I was hired about 2 weeks before school started which was crazy! I had two weeks packed full of meetings, trainings, and hours and hours of setting up my new classroom. Pinebrook is a very large school with 1,200 students and 3 principals! It is currently the largest school in the district and is highly regarded in the community with a 10/10 rating on School started on Tuesday, September 4th. Here are some pictures of me on my first day....

I have two amazing and cute kindergarten classes with 46 little munchkins running around! Having two classes is crazy but it is quite nice to only have to plan half a day and just repeat what I did in the morning in the afternoon. I love how culturally diverse this school is. I have a class full of diversity! I have Asians, Indians (from India), African Americans, Hispanics, and White children. I even have 3 red haired children! We are quite the diverse looking group and I love it. My challenge for this year is having 2 ELL children who don't speak English. One understands me and speaks a little. The other speaks absolutely nothing. It is quite the challenge but hopefully it will be rewarding in the end!

Back to school night was this past week. It is always such a relief when it is over! Nothing is more overwhelming than being confronted by a big room full of parents who have questions and concerns about their children and are wondering how I am planning on helping them. But I have a great group of parents who are very supportive and kind. I also have an amazing full time assistant with me named Risa, who I absolutely adore and don't know what I would do without!

Here are some pictures from back to school night!

So here is to a great year full of ABC's and 1, 2, 3's!
Since I only attended 2 weeks of kindergarten myself when I was young,
it is my first time in kindergarten just like my students!
Hopefully we can work together to have a great year!
